Magnolia Grassfed

“Mimicking ancient herding behaviors to regenerate and preserve the land.”

We got to spend an early evening in the meadow with our local rancher, Woody Woodward. I knew a little about the work he was doing with the animals and we have a freezer stocked with some of the best beef we have ever eaten from his ranch. What Woody is doing through Magnolia Grassfed is so much more than just providing delicious food. His practices are helping maintain the health of the meadows by mimicking ancient herding behaviors. Woodys work with the ecology of the meadow supports the grater wildlife sanctuary this community calls home.

“the soils get healthier”

SOIL FERTILITY

They supervise the herd with frequent pasture changes mimicking ancient herding behaviors. This grazing approach encourages carbon sequestration and nitrogen production which improves the soil health. As the soil gets healthier, it increases its water absorption and supplies more water to the underground aquifer. When the soil is vital, so are the native plants and the cycle of the local wildlife.

WILDLIFE DIVERSITY

The herds are monitored to graze the meadows up to about 50 percent. This amount of grazing stimulates root growth while leaving enough plants to grow to produce seeds. The meadows thrive with this amount of grazing which also aids in carbon sequestration and the overall vitality of the wildlife habitat.
