Herbal Jam

An autumn ritual for winter wellness.

In ayurveda there is a renowned elixir of vitality known as Chyavanprash. This herbal jam is packed with health benefits making it a rasayana, or deeply nourishing and tonifying remedy. This jam can be licked off the spoon or spooned on top of toast, oatmeal or broiled salmon. It is a digestive tonic, immune boost and high in antioxidants. I share with you a recipe that blends the benefits from traditional Ayurvedic herbs and local Colorado wild fruit that are ripe in autumn. I make this jam as an autumn ritual for my winter wellness.

  • 2 tbsp. Ashwagandha Lavender GheeDried Amalaki Powder

  • 1 c. Raw Honey

  • ¼ tsp. Pectin

Instructions:

  2. Warm the fruit in a pot on low heat, let simmer for about 15 mins and then cover and let sit about 30 mins for the juice to release and the flavors to deepen.

  3. Next, add the pectin and cook on high for 5 minutes stirring regularly or using a hand blender.

  4. Remove from heat and add ghee, honey and amalaki. Stir well till it is well incorporated.
